Shanda’s interest in bodywork began in an anatomy class in college. She remembers how curious she was about the inner workings of the human body. Shortly after receiving her degree, she decided to pursue this new passion, which has become a lifelong study of the body and the healing arts.
Shanda has been a licensed bodywork practitioner since 1999. From the outset of her practice, she has explored a variety of modalities with cutting edge professors, doctors, and other bodywork therapists to bring greater balance and healing to her clients. These mentors include: Dr. Gil Hedley, Dr. Jeff Rockwall, Dr. Lance Wright, the Upledger Institute, Eric Dalton, Thomas Meyers, Karla Marie, Anita Shannon, and Dr. Janice La Brie. Under their tutelage she has become-as one client has observed - - a healer in the truest sense of that word.
Shanda works with balancing the nervous system to release stored tension in the body on its physical, mental, and emotional planes. She reads the needs of each individual and tailors her sessions by using a combination of skills needed by that body at that moment in time. Her unique and integrative approach allows for the body’s resistance to melt, ensuring a deep change in the individuals well-being.
Among the modalities used in her thriving , Dallas-based practice are:
Cranial Sacral Therapy
Her current studies include human and equine biomechanics and their relation to balancing the nervous system. An avid student of classical French Dressage under the tutelage of Stephanie Grant Millham and Sonya Livermore, Shanda practices this work with one of her most treasured teachers, a beloved mare called Sparrow.
